Rocky Hill Invisalign
The Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made plastic aligners to gently guide your teeth into better positions. In less than one year, you can have a new smile with perfectly straight teeth.
The Invisalign Process
Dr. Michalski will determine if Invisalign will work for you. First, he’ll need to examine your teeth and take x-rays of your mouth. He’ll consider the shape of your tooth roots and make sure you don’t have unerupted teeth. If you’re a candidate for invisible braces, he’ll make a mold of your teeth.
At the Invisalign lab, technicians will use advanced computer technology to scan the mold and create a series of plastic aligners. Depending on your unique mouth, you could need 12 to 48 of these clear trays. It’s the aligners that do all the work of straightening your teeth.
You’ll wear each set of aligners for two weeks. At first, the plastic trays won’t quite fit your teeth—but over the next couple of days, the teeth will move into their new positions. They will be just a little bit straighter than before. Your body will then stabilize the new positions and in fourteen days you’ll repeat this step with each aligner the lab made for you. When you’re done, you’ll have a more beautiful smile.
Invisalign Benefits
Here are some of the reasons Invisalign is popular with patients:
- The plastic braces are invisible at a conversational distance.
- It takes six months to one year to realign your teeth with Invisalign. Conventional braces can take two to three years.
- They’re comfortable. Unlike traditional braces, they have no metal pieces or wires to scratch you.
- It’s easy to take out the plastic aligners before you brush your teeth or eat and drink.
Getting the Most Out of Your Treatment
It’s important that you keep your teeth clean under your aligners. Brush, floss, and rinse before putting them back on after eating.
You’ll get the straightest teeth if you follow Invisalign’s recommendations. That means wearing each aligner for the full amount of time and being careful to change to the next aligner when scheduled. You will also need to come in for monthly visits so Dr. Michalski can make sure the treatment is working and make adjustments if needed.
