If you have invested in dental insurance to offset the costs of your family’s dental care, Thaddeus S. We accept dental insurance benefits from the majority of insurance carriers, and we are in-network with a number of major dental insurance plans, including Cigna.

DENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE BASICS

For many patients, dental benefit plans can be baffling. Our team members work with these dental benefit plans on a regular basis, so we can help you understand these increasingly complicated insurance details. Although your benefit plan is a unique contract between you and your insurance company, with allowances being chosen by your employer, we will be happy to review your specific coverage. Before we begin treatment, you will be made aware of the percentage of fees your insurer covers and the percentage you will be responsible for, as well as any annual maximum benefits. (Coincidentally, these annual limits are generally $1000 -1500, and have not changed since the 1960s). We do our best to offer accurate cost estimates to help patients plan for their payments before we move forward with any dental procedure.

YOUR IN-NETWORK PROVIDER

In addition to your premiums and annual plan maximums, your dental insurer will also specify a discounted fee for covered dental treatments that in-network providers have agreed to charge for these specific services. Cigna, like most PPO insurers, allows patients to choose their dental care provider whether or not the dentist is in-network. Every plan is unique to the individual, so our goal is always to maximize coverage for our patients whether we are in-network or out-of-network. While we are happy to process and file dental insurance claims to help our patients make the most of their insurance investment, ultimately, it’s most important to us to ensure you receive the quality dental care you deserve.

CHECKUPS MAXIMIZE YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE

For most patients with Cigna insurance, twice a year dental checkups and teeth cleanings are covered up to between 80 and 100 percent. During these appointments, we’ll examine your smile for early warning signs of common oral health concerns like tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ dysfunction, bruxism, and oral cancer. When patients attend biannual dental checkups, we’re able to diagnose these oral health concerns in their earliest stages. That means we can provide early intervention to ensure you receive conservative treatments to preserve your oral health.
